This is a petition to get the auto farming feature enabled for the minecart mania plugins. I feel very strongly that the enabling of this feature would greatly increase the productivity in the game. A lot of my time has been spent in farms harvesting the resources, but with the enabling of the feature, time can be better spent working on projects.

Last night I built an automated farm, but without the knowledge that the feature is turned off. Tried for a few hours to get it to work, but nothing. Logged on today, asked Eraticus about it and was told that the feature was off. If anybody feels they can contribute to this topic, please do. I want this is be a server wide decision.

I dislike auto-mated things in general. This isn't Autocraft. Part of the game is gathering the stuff you need. That's what makes projects that much more epic. You not only planned and constructed it, you gathered the huge amount of resources to accomplish it.

Here is the reason historically we've never used automation. Minecart Mania is a very robust and useful mod that does a LOT of stuff in the form we use it now. Adding automation poses two issues, first it allows for way too much automatic work. You can make it mine and farm for you completely automatically so that all you'll ever have to do is show up in your base and collect the items. Second, it leads to more minecarts running around constantly which uses server resources. Minecart mania forces chunks that have minecarts in them to stay loaded. I'm not sure at what point it would become a stability issue but if everyone had minecart farms running I'm sure at some point it probably would.

Don't get me wrong, I understand that mining and farming can be tedious and I find myself bored with them as well sometimes. That's why we have a creative map and why I spend most of my time building there. Then if you are in the mood for adventure you can hop back on the survival map. I feel like adding the full compliment of minecart mania automation will only lead to problems and rather than waiting until we have 20 people running fully automated bases and realizing we need to shut it down I'd rather not add it.

I don't mind mods that add new, interesting features to the game, but the automation portion of Minecart Mania just feels like using a cheat code.
