server down for the count

so what's going on with the server??

I got on fine this evening. I was having issues connecting to minecraft.net but I think it was on my end. I think.

it was down and out, ope had restarted it, got to a point where play was impossible and then once you logged out couldn't log back in. I believe ope said he ended up having to reboot several times.

If it acts up today I'll disable dynmap and see if it goes away. I saw someone posted on the dynmap thread similar issues and it looks like the creator is no longer updated dynmap. If that's the case I'll have to find us another map.

That would explain the dynamic map being weird the last few weeks. hopefully we can find another map program because I love looking at dynamic map and finding new creations that are somewhat far away, then the journey begins.

Yeah, I'm not sure what our options are for a dynmap replacement. I looked around a bit last night but couldn't find one on the bukkit site.

and lets not forget, when 1.6 hits we wont need dynamap due to maps being actuly added into the game! such a neat idea.

well the way I understand maps in game they won't be any where near as useful as the dynmap. You'll only be able to discover tiny portions on a map you hold in your hand so to have a map of the entire explored area you'd end up with a bunch of pages and have to go between them to look around. Not to mention no web chat I think I found an updated thread for dynmap so I'll take a look at it tonight and see about getting us swapped out. It may require some downtime while I do it though.
