Tekkit incoming

Post  eraticus on Tue Jul 10, 2012 10:22 pm

I am currently backing up the maps and cleaning up the server to install Tekkit.

Please go to http://www.technicpack.net/launcher/ and download the launcher. If you have questions from there post them here.

If you log in with Tekkit and can't see anything but sky, don't panic! Go to video settings and check your draw distance. Mine defaulted to the minimum possible for some reason, so I couldn't see any blocks. Just move the slider up, and you're set.

If you have 32-bit Java, the launcher .exe might not work, so you'll need to use the .jar file directly. It should be in your User folder, in a sub-folder named Application Settings (you might need to unhide it).

I've redone the spawn map a couple of time and it still sucks. I'm also not able to change the spawn area because we don't have a /setspawn command with this mod pack.

Also yeah, the whitelist is totally open at this point.

If anyone has any trouble with the tekkit launcher or whatnot, don't hesitate to email me at opedog@gmail.com for help. Lemme try and lay out a few instructions:

  1. Go to http://www.technicpack.net/ and download the latest launcher from the side navigation. Try the EXE version. Sarah's java installation for some reason didn't like the EXE version, so if that doesn't work download the JAR version and run it just like an EXE.
  2. The launcher is very unique in that it's basically one click. To log in to the tekkit server select the "Tekkit" setup from the combobox on the top left. Then fill out the username/password info like normal and login. This may take a minute or two, but it's downloading/building the client setup.
  3. Once that's done, login to the server like normal!

By the way I should mention that I think this is just a temporary fun thing that we're gonna do for awhile. Era backed up the old server info so that hasn't gone anywhere. Smile

FYI I filled out the whitelist again. If you're not on it email me at opedog@gmail.com or contact era!

Doh, Yeah there is a lot of potential for catastrophe with this mod. Let me know if you need help getting set up again.

Honestly, I just need to.find another oil bubble. I had completely pumped that one out and had four full tanks, stacked 12 or so high of oil. All that burned up I am guessing.

Will we be doing a dynamic map of the current setup?

I thought about leaving it off beacuse of the minimap but if everyone wants to I can turn it on.. BTW you know if you hit the ' key it brings up a larger map right? no where near the dynmap but helpful.

I like the 3d skew to the dynmap, helps to see what you are doing ingame. Just my 2 cents. Smile

In other words, Xack likes to admire his aestheticly (sp?) pleasing builds. Hahaha.

Anybody got some hits on oil yet? I'm sailing into the sunset this evening after work until I find some.
