Atlantica lives
I have been working on a project with Swizzy that is about to be added to the server. The goal has been to create an entirely hand crafted world and let you guys go nuts building in it. Maybe a practice for the discworld idea? After looking at the citizens mod swizzy posted I'm wondering how would you guys feel about trying to make an entire living world with us and NPC's inhabiting it? With the right mods we could make this a real adventure. Maybe add some economy mods and what not.
One of the mods I've been most excited about is Spout. Spout allows us to basically do anything we want to the game. From custom blocks, sounds, entities, right down to changing texture packs on the fly. You could have cities with their own texture packs and as people enter the city they would automatically load that texturepack.
Now the downside to this is it requires users to have spoutcraft installed so they can see the server side changes. You will still be able to play on the server without it but you just won't see any of the spout specific changes. I installed spoutcraft to see how it is and it's super super easy. You just run it instead of the MC launcher and it does everything for you. The only thing is since it launches for you, you have to enter your username and PW into it. They say that it's secure but I understand being leery of giving up that control. Give them a look and maybe browse thru some of the cool mods that work with them and think of the possibilities.
It is possible to do something like this without spout but it'd be way easier to make a living world with some of the additions it could give us. I've really been waiting for someone to port a mo'creatures or better than wolves type mod thru Spout.

This sounds pretty cool. The password thing kind of scares me, but if it has been around for a while and no one has reported any shenanigans then it should be ok I would think.
