ok guys when bukkit etc are ready I have a plan for our next map spawn city. I think we should create a large port city with a seawall and ships with various districts all neatly laid out with roads and a transit hub. more details to come but think old world meets future with maybe a touchvof steampunk.

This is a quick mock up I did for what I'm thinking of for the initial layout. I built this in the desert near kora's pyramid if you wanna go read the signs and look at it.

I was already doing a mock up of the German castle on the 1.8 map. I like that tiny map for the port city. I would love to be more involved with it.

and i really like the 1st two pictures, they're very beach front, port-ish style buildings, i don't know.
The third one looks more "lodge" and looks like it would be in the mountains.

Lol, the first two are in the mountains. I would think that is opposite of portish.

both very cool ist. I think the 1st 2 aero was referring to were swizzy's builds. I can see the first 2 as the government/wealthy district and the third as a nicer dockside inn or something.

I like the first picture Ist posted up a lot. the bridges extending out will make it easy to expand outwards and the landscaping looks nice

I checked out the scale model last night, it looks cool to me. Will spawn be inside or elsewhere? Also, I think a creeper/godzilla paid a visit to the edge of the shop district.
But, that could work out, if you wanted a quarry or mine entrance on the edge of town...

my plan was typical survival set up. if you guys have requests let me know.
first couple nights should see our typical spawn camp set up. farms etc being the focus. then we can scout out the city location and drive rail to it.
how do you guys feel about no tp using rail and portals or something only for transit? a lot of work goes into rails and its a shame not to use them.

Im fine with that so long as we construct a comprehensive system. True those who build out in the wilds will be screwed but that just makes the wilds more wild right?

i wouldnt say screwed. you would just have to dig your own track or get prait to help hook you into the grid. it seems like when we dont have tp people build closer together and we end up with more community. as a compromise we could find a tp cooldown mod so you had a limited amount of teleports per x time?

Meh, Im fine without it tbh. You would just have to rely on actually building roads or transit stystems. Not as many 'compounds' 3k blocks away from everyone.

back on Atlanta Torn and I built like a 2k block long rail to get to our places. so I dont see a problem with making long rails. it'll help keep the expanding outwards at a steady pace
