LOTRO anyone?

I was thinking about giving Lord of the Rings Online a go being that it is free to play. Has anyone ever tried it

I played it for a while. didn't know it had gone f2p. it's not horrible. If it's free I could fire my account back up I guess. The main problem I had with it at the time is I was behind the power curve and could never find help at my level.

I played this when they were doing Beta, and at the time, me and a few buddies were keeping up with the curve. It was supposed to be our 'summer game'... only lasted about 2 months before we all dropped it. It was pretty fun and very new at the time. Id stay to definitely give it a try. F2P is always a nice thing.

I played it for a while, its a good F2P game. some quests can get grindy though.

I played for a while, as well. It's one of the more grindy MMOs out there, and the crafting system kind of sucks. On the other hand, the main quest line has a decent story to it and almost all of the low- to mid-level content can be soloed with any class. The big selling points for me are that it treats Tolkien's work with respect and enough "Turbine Points" are given out as quest rewards that you don't need to spend any real cash to have a playable character (you will if you want more than two characters on the same server, though). I only stopped playing because I got bored with solo play. I would be willing to go back to it if enough people are interested.

I'll be making a character when I get home from work today. It'll be nice to actually play a mmo with some cool peoples.

We should try to make this a specific night that we play and all level up together so that we can stay together easily. maybe have an alt you play if you want to continue leveling?

That sounds like a good idea. Any evening during the week and/or sometimes on the weekend is good for me.

I started the intro quests. I figured we could solo out of the starter zone and meet up on the other side. We should all end up around lvl 10 I think.
