I'm pretty sure the only previous effect that appeared to break the speed of light barrier was quantum entanglement. My guess is that there is a fundamental misunderstanding about how neutrinos travel through space, especially since there is no good explanation for how they change type. They may not even really be particles in the traditional sense.

I wonder if research along these lines could eventually provide evidence for or against string theory?
