Bukkit 1.8.1!

After a long awaited time Bukkit has released a Recommended build for their server. Im going to start testing it tonight and after I get out of work tomorrow, I will start converting checking into any changes that need to be made to get everything back up and running again. I hope to have our server on a live bukkit build on Friday at some point.

Ok after some testing it looks like multiple nether portals per world may still be wonky, so Im going to say for the moment lets have only one main portal per world near the spawn point.

There will also be two different /spawn commands:

/spawn will bring you to the Main World spawn, which is the new 1.8 world.
/mvspawn will bring you to the spawn point of the world you're currently in.

Another change will be the only 1.7 map will be going creative.

Currently I have Bukkit, Essentials and Multiverse playing well together(Yaaa! /home :p). Im going to check on Minecart Mania next then the portcullis and bridge mods.

So it looks promissing that within the next 48 hours we will be back on bukkit.

Side note: Im going to try and keep everyone existing /home where they are so long as the files will port to the new versions. That way you wont lose them in the old maps. Then all you will need to do is set your new home in the new 1.8 Map.

Update:

Ok after painstakingly redoing our permission files, I've got the groups redone to work with the new system.

Next I have to get everyone set into the proper groups and to get the /homes working on the original maps I need to go back in and manually edit all of the user files. That being said this may take a bit longer than I expected, but all going well we should be back on bukkit withing the next day or so.

thats what im hoping...

Also it appears the new essentials /home works differently so i cannot seem to covert the homes over...

So everyone will need to reset their homes if they wish to use them, and it also seems that /home sets are not automatic between worlds anymore. So far it seems you can only use one /home but I shall look into this as I dont know what they changed.

KK. I got the basic login stuff from era last night, so I can do the update whenever. Tho era and I think its best to wait and see if the possible MC update today will break things. I work 3-11cst and Ill keep and eye on it. If it drops Ill check on it tonight and all going well Ill take the server down and make the changes then. It hopefully wont be down longer than 20min or so. Ill need to rearrange the map files etc.

I made a call on bukkit vs 1.9. Since it is only a prerelease today with likely a couple days before official I decided to roll out our usual mods until bukkit and mc are in sync, like we usually do. I'm as anxious as anyone for new content but we've just gotten started and I'm sure we can enjoy a few days with a hopefully, stablish MC. As usual once in sync we'll do a full update.

OK!

We're officially hazBukkit again!

Everything seems to be up and running, and I've converted our old 1.7 map to a creative one. Portals are back up as well with the new world linking to the old near the nether portal in town.

I have installed a mod to prevent endergriefers from doing anything stupid until notch nerfs it himself.
