Autowater?

I like the diff. saplings idea. I get tired of growing the same kind of trees all the time and a variety would be nice

perhaps the autowater means that you won't have to make sure the soil is so close to water to become fertile?

I'm excited about snow again!! One thing I've missed! I'll have to search for a snow bio when this comes back into the game.

not to mention actually being able to gather large quantities easier for use in construction.

One thing to note - different saplings WILL be useful. Pine/spruce does not create branches, and is thus MUCH easier to harvest without worrying about big bulky branching trees to deal with. Just chop upwards, and move on!

Birch is nice for beautification. It would be nice to have a forest of just birch, for example.

Just my thoughts.

Rain? Interesting but annoying. Honestly the main things I want added are new construction aids and features not aesthetic features . There is plenty of variety for me when I change texture packs ever week lol.

Notch seems to be focusing on aesthetics atm. I saw he followed up a few more tweets saying he has now added thunder and is considering whether rain should fill small holes (assuming 1x1x1 empty spaces).

I'm perfectly ok with aesthetics as long as they also put in cool new mechanics like the piston. I'm so excited about that one. Imagine Xack's puzzle temple with walls that move!!!!

11/11/11! However, its planned to be nothing more than to throw off the name of Beta, and they plan to continue to update it beyond that.

He said they plan to release 1.5 next week sometime as well. Like its been mentioned before, it should include weather and achievements/stats.

I was most excited to see the piston mod being put in. The possibilities seem endless. It sucks it wont make it into the update.

Lightning + Pig = Zombiepigman.

Also, thunderstorms create darkness, and mobs CAN spawn during the day.

New powertrack, on = cart boost, off = cart brake. May be able to say goodby eto minecart mania.

I'm slightly concerned about performance with all those new particles .... Lots of new objects to draw. (I mean individual performance, not server).

And I'm concerned about server perf with weather and stuff. Hopefully there's a toggle so we can turn it on early morning and watch it first.

Honestly I hope they set it up so its just a flag on the server which would be almost no load and the particles are just handled client side. That would be the best way to do it as it would just be an overlay on the screen.

1.5 is getting pushed back until next week. Hopefully that means they having everything working very nicely.

I suppose its pretty easy to blow off work when your games made over 24m at this point... Im glad hes going to put out 1.5 tomorrow, at least.

Notch mentioned today that the 1.7.3 update is out, fixing numerous bugs and oddities. The list includes:

- Corrected a block duplication bug when using pistons
- Corrected a redstone torch duplication bug when using pistons
- Corrected a client crash when placing a sign in front of the piston, powering the piston and then removing the block beneath the sign
- Ice blocks are now pushed without causing water streams breaking everything
- Booster rails are no longer being powered magically without a power source
- Pistons connected to the end of a piston-transistor via redstone are now properly closed when the power goes out
- Doors no longer create purple particles
- Hacking clients can no longer edit texts of placed signs in multiplayer
- Changed so that paintings pushed by pistons will pop off
